The built environment does not begin with the finished building.
Coastal Build Archives is an independent visual and documentary archive concerned with the processes, materials, people and decisions that shape the built environment.
It attends to what is usually temporary: unfinished assemblies, working methods, weather, tools, adjustments and the accumulated knowledge held in ordinary acts of making. Through observation and preservation, the archive gives these conditions a durable public record.
